The weather outside is frightful...but the fire is soooo delightful...yes, it's one of those kind of days. And now it's one of those kind of evenings. The Holiday rush is almost through...tomorrow will be New Year's Eve. Its definitely time to be toasty!
So let's have a toast to being toasty....shall we? Cheers! xoxo
I woke up this morning to pink tinged frosty tree limbs outside my window...and then the smoke from chimneys created a pink haze lazily drifting above and blending into the morning sky. Now I'm remembering why I love winter!
Merry Christmas to all and wishing everyone a wonderful Happy New Year! Now that most of the Christmas hub-bub is winding down, I've finally found a few quiet moments....in fact it's a blizzard with wind and snow swirling madly about out there! So here I am cozy next to the fire....a perfect opportunity to share some photos of our farmhouse all dressed and into the Holiday swing....
The photos above are the porches getting into the Holiday mood....and below are some photos of the main entry stairs and living areas....
The photo above is the living room next to the cozy wood stove....always ablaze on these cold December days! And the photos below are of the dining room decked out with dessert goodies...
This is the dessert buffet set up for our guests during our Farmhouse Christmas Open House. There's much work on the interior still to be accomplished but we dressed her up a bit and turned out a fairly festive old lady farmhouse just in time for our first Christmas!
A rather formal Christmas Breakfast has become somewhat of a family tradition in our family...and this was especially special with this being our very first farmhouse Christmas Breakfast. So what was on the menu? Eggnog French Toast, pepper bacon, orange juice, and lots of coffee for the adults in the house!
Last Thursday we headed down to Portland to celebrate Merry Mayhem with Swiss Time (where my husband's now working) in Old Port. It's an awesome way to ring in the Holidays....everything is festively decorated, gorgeous lights in the trees, carriage rides down cobblestone streets...and the shops stay open late into the evening serving up great shopping....with wine and lots of goodies!
Each year the event is kicked off at a different hotel. Turned out that the historical Portland Regency Hotel was chosen this year...our favorite place to stay while in Portland! So we were front and center immersed in Merry Mayhem from beginning to end!
Swiss Time and Oris Watches partnered with Local Jazz Musicians to present an evening of music and giving with raffle for a gorgeous Oris watch and proceeds went to a local charity. My son was called upon to draw the lucky raffle ticket ...his big excitement for the evening! And check out those ultra cool Oris windows!!
I'm a Texas girl now living the country life on a lakeside farm in central Maine with my four kids... and of course the horses, chickens, bunnies, cats, and whatever other critters happen to wander in periodically and take up residence.
