A massive heatwave has settled over the New England area… So enough of this heat! It's time for a beach day!
Around 9:30 or 10 in the morning I decided that we were going to head for the beach… We decided upon Reid State Park. Mile-long beach is one of our favorites. After all, this is the reason we live in Maine!
We managed to get all of our animals cared for and watered plus my new plantings of flowers and shrubs watered enough for the long hot day ahead. By noon we were in the car headed south and by 1:53 we were at the Park gate. We changed clothes in their newly constructed bath houses and by 2 PM we were splashing in the waves!
My husband took off early, headed up from Portland and met us. Unfortunately it is greenhead flies season… These critters are similar to horseflies and yes they can bite! After plenty of sunshine, splashing, and teeth chattering… That ocean is cold!… We shot out to Five Islands…
Isn't it wonderful how some places never change? They just remain their sweet idyllic selves! That is five islands in a nut shell.
Now for a lobstah dinnah... Even on special this evening! At one of our faves… Taste of Maine in Bath.... before you cross the bridge and just passed Ed's Stuff. I'm longing to check out Ed's Stuff. Wish I had photo of Ed's Stuff … So you could really get the full effect!
Top it all off with ice cream sandwiches! And home to our own comfy beds by 10 PM. Yep, that's why I moved to Maine!
