So I'm trying out this iPhone app for the first time. Always an adventure! For future reference, any pictures on my blog posts that have borders around them and say they are written by my husband are actually done on the iPhone app! So here we go...
After surviving the blizzard on Saturday, we decided to go to the Camden Snow Bowl where they had 30 new inches of snow and let the kids do some skiing. Why not find the silver lining?
While they skied, I perused the cute shops in the village. I happened to score a nice item at the antique store that I will show you later… Here's a hint: great for the barn! After the ski lifts closed we took the children for hot chocolate… And me that lovely glass of wine!
In 'celebration' of the huge blizzard we have blustering through our region today, I thought I'd get us into the winter mood by finding some ways to have some winter fun in all the new snow we have piling up and swirling around us right now! Before long, the winds will die down, the sun will peek through again...and it will be the perfect time to grab the sleds, ice skates, and hot chocolate for a snow day playday! And of course, don't forget to end the day with a roaring bonfire and s'mores! Grab even more inspiration on my Pinterest board: Winter Decor. Have fun and stay warm!!
How's that for some alliteration??! Well, while we're still on the subject of ski lodges and lifts, I decided to do my own brand of 'lifting' while the others were occupied at the ski lifts! My sort of lifting was way more leisurely...and had to do with my all consuming obsession with rearranging furniture! Of course I can never just let things be...without finding my own ways of tweaking the surroundings. It's a sickness, I know. This particular lodge is practically un-tweakable, really, but I always manage to find something that I simply have to rearrange...usually it's several things! But in this instance, I decided the living room needed some assistance...
If you'll remember from the previous photos in the last blog, the living room had this spare chair sitting as a sort of out cast from the rest of the LR group. Poor guy! And those small square faded blue pillows for the couch? I don't think so. Plus, I was longing for a place to perch over by that glorious fireplace and looking out on that superb mountain view. Something simply had to be done...so this is what I did...
Mr. Chair found a new home nestled up close to that lovely FP. Next I swiped the brown striped pillows from the back bedroom and gave the kiddos those 3 faded blue pillows formerly on the couch. They'll never even notice! I brought my own faux fur throw that was delicious on that chaise next to those fantastic windows. The brown tones from the 'new' accent pillows and the throw were pure elegance with that sumptuous cocoa rug, table, and mocha stained bar stools. Yum...feeling more elevated already!
I then scooched the rug down closer to the chaise and moved the coffee table over closer to the chaise as well. Now no matter where you sat there was always a place to set that glass of wine or early morning latte. Perfection!
We jumped at the opportunity to grab a few days and head for the mountains of Western Maine for a little ski get-away. We decided to check out Saddleback Mountain ski resort this year (it was Sugarloaf last year) and landed this beautiful ski-in/out lodge near the base of the slopes. If you're anything like me, who absolutely lives for checking out beautiful digs, then here ya go!
So here's a video tour (below) of this wonderful ski lodge we stayed in with its gorgeous views! We're here...and turns out the front's around back! Hmmm...not the greatest image to start with is it, but hey, this is where the most used door is...and where else? the mudroom! Enjoy the tour...it only gets better! Ha!
And....if you're also like me, you absolutely live for all the little, minute details! So for all you detail divas, here's a photo gallery 'tour' as well...just click on any image for a slideshow. Have fun!
I'm a Texas girl now living the country life on a lakeside farm in central Maine with my four kids... and of course the horses, chickens, bunnies, cats, and whatever other critters happen to wander in periodically and take up residence.
